LightForce XLi
Class 4 Laser
Therapy
40-Watt photobiomodulation therapy — the most advanced therapeutic laser available. Drug-free, non-surgical pain relief that penetrates to depths no other outpatient device can reach.
LightForce® XLi
The gold standard in high-power laser therapy. Used by elite sports medicine programs across every major professional league.
What Is Class 4 Laser Therapy?
Class 4 Laser Therapy — also called Photobiomodulation (PBM) — uses high-intensity infrared and near-infrared light to trigger a cascade of biological responses deep within damaged tissue. FDA-cleared, non-invasive, zero downtime.
Cellular Energy Production
Laser photons are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in mitochondria, directly boosting ATP synthesis. More cellular energy accelerates protein synthesis, cell replication, and tissue waste removal.
Inflammation Modulation
PBM suppresses pro-inflammatory cytokines (PGE2, TNF-α, IL-1β) while upregulating anti-inflammatory mediators — reducing both acute and chronic neurogenic inflammation without medication.
Circulation & Tissue Repair
Promotes angiogenesis, improves microcirculation to ischemic tissue, and stimulates fibroblast activity for faster collagen synthesis and structural repair in tendons, ligaments, and fascia.
Nerve & Pain Modulation
Raises the threshold of pain-sensing C-fibers, reduces central sensitization, and promotes BDNF — supporting peripheral nerve healing and a lasting reduction in pain signaling.
Deep Tissue Penetration
At 40 watts, the LightForce XLi drives therapeutic photonic energy to depths of 10+ cm — reaching structures that Class 3 cold laser devices below 500mW cannot access.
Faster Sessions, Better Outcomes
High power means therapeutic tissue doses in 10–15 minutes. Customizable pulsing and dual wavelength control (810nm + 980nm) optimize every session for your specific condition.
Conditions Effectively Treated
The LightForce XLi is clinically proven effective for a broad spectrum of musculoskeletal and neurological pain conditions.
Plantar Fasciitis & Heel Pain
Reduces plantar fascial inflammation and accelerates tissue healing for chronic heel pain unresponsive to stretching or orthotics.
Tennis & Golfer's Elbow
PBM accelerates healing of degenerative tendon tissue at the lateral and medial epicondyle.
Chronic Back & Neck Pain
Reduces paraspinal inflammation, addresses discogenic pain, and supports healing of facet joint irritation and postural strain.
Sciatica & Nerve Pain
Promotes peripheral nerve regeneration, reduces neurogenic inflammation, and modulates pain signaling along the sciatic nerve pathway.
Shoulder Pain & Rotator Cuff
Effective for rotator cuff tendinopathy, calcific tendinitis, impingement syndrome, and post-surgical shoulder rehabilitation.
Knee Pain & Osteoarthritis
Reduces inflammatory markers in knee OA, improves joint mobility, and addresses patellar tendonitis and runner's knee.
Achilles Tendinopathy
High-evidence modality for Achilles healing — promotes collagen remodeling and reduces insertional inflammation.
Hip Pain & Bursitis
Targets greater trochanteric bursitis, hip flexor strains, and piriformis syndrome with deep-tissue penetration.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Reduces median nerve compression symptoms, decreases wrist inflammation, and supports nerve repair.
Post-Surgical Recovery
Accelerates wound healing, reduces post-operative swelling, and shortens return-to-activity timelines.
Fibromyalgia & Widespread Pain
Reduces central sensitization, lowers inflammatory burden, and improves functional capacity.
Sports Injuries & Muscle Strains
From acute tears to chronic overuse — the recovery tool of choice for 250+ professional sports organizations worldwide.
Why the LightForce® XLi
Is Different
Not all laser therapy devices are equal. The LightForce XLi is the device chosen by professional sports medicine programs because it produces clinical results at tissue depths that actually matter.
- 40 Watts of peak power — vs. <500mW for Class 3 cold laser. This is not incremental. It is a fundamentally different category of treatment.
- Dual wavelength delivery (810nm + 980nm) — targets both superficial and deep tissue in one pass, optimizing photon absorption across tissue types.
- Continuous & pulsed modes — continuous wave for deep thermal effects; pulsed for neurological and inflammatory conditions. Protocol matched to your diagnosis.
- 10–15 minute sessions — high power means therapeutic dosing in a fraction of the time compared to lower-powered alternatives.
- No downtime, no discomfort — patients feel comfortable warmth. No side effects, no recovery period, no contraindications for most patients.
- Trusted by 250+ pro & collegiate teams — NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, PGA Tour, UFC, Olympics, and Premier League rely on LightForce for athlete recovery.
What to Expect During Treatment
Consultation & Assessment
Dr. Petzel evaluates your condition, reviews your history, and determines protocol parameters. Every plan is individualized — no generic templates.
Targeted Treatment
The LightForce XLi handpiece is applied to the treatment area. You'll feel a gentle, progressive warmth as energy penetrates deep into tissue. Sessions are 10–15 minutes per area.
Immediate Response
Many patients notice reduced pain and improved mobility within the first 1–3 sessions. Acute conditions respond fastest; chronic tendinopathies typically require 6–10 sessions for sustained improvement.
Ongoing Protocol
Sessions are scheduled 2–3× per week. Dr. Petzel tracks tissue response, adjusts power and dosing, and combines laser with chiropractic, EMTT, or TECAR as clinically indicated.
Laser Therapy Session Pricing
Cash-pay. No hidden fees. HSA and FSA accepted. Most patients require 10–20 sessions — packages reduce the per-session cost significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Laser Therapy
Class 4 Laser Therapy (PBM) uses high-intensity laser light — up to 40 watts in the LightForce XLi — to penetrate deep into muscles, joints, and connective tissue. Cold laser (Class 3) devices operate below 500 milliwatts — 80× less power — and can only treat superficial tissue. Class 4 reaches deep joint structures, spinal muscles, and tendons that require higher energy delivery for clinical effect, resulting in faster sessions, deeper healing, and more durable outcomes.
Laser therapy is comfortable and non-invasive. Most patients describe a pleasant, progressive warmth over the treated area. No needles, no vibration, no sound, no discomfort. Sessions last 10–15 minutes and there is zero recovery time — you return to normal activities immediately.
Most patients begin noticing improvement within 3–5 sessions. A standard protocol is 10 sessions (2–3× per week). Acute conditions may resolve in fewer. Chronic degenerative conditions — plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy, osteoarthritis — typically benefit from 15–20 sessions for sustained results. Dr. Petzel creates a personalized plan at your initial consultation and adjusts it based on your tissue response throughout care.
At Adisi Health Center: single session $115 · 10-session package $920 ($92/session, save $230) · 20-session package $1,700 ($85/session, save $600). Laser therapy is also included in Adisi Wellness Memberships starting at $199/month, bringing the per-session cost as low as $74.88. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
Most commercial insurance plans and Medicare do not currently cover Class 4 Laser Therapy. Adisi Health Center offers transparent cash-pay pricing with no hidden fees. HSA and FSA cards are accepted. Chiropractic adjustments at Adisi remain in-network with BCBS PPO and are billed separately.
Yes — and this is one of Adisi's core clinical advantages. Dr. Petzel frequently combines Class 4 Laser with EMTT (Storz Magnetolith), Winback TECAR, and chiropractic adjustments to address pain at multiple physiological levels simultaneously. The Adisi Wellness Membership is designed around the synergistic combination of Laser + EMTT + TECAR for ongoing recovery maintenance. No other clinic in Hinsdale or the western suburbs offers all four modalities under one roof.
No. Zero downtime. Patients return to work, exercise, and daily activities immediately. Many notice improved mobility and reduced stiffness right after their session. Unlike shockwave therapy, which may produce 24–48 hours of mild post-treatment soreness, laser therapy is consistently comfortable throughout the entire course of care.
Contraindicated over active cancer sites, directly over the eyes (protective eyewear always worn), over the thyroid, and over the abdomen during the first trimester of pregnancy. Patients on photosensitizing medications should inform Dr. Petzel before treatment. Most patients — including those with pacemakers and metal implants — are excellent candidates. Eligibility is confirmed at your intake assessment.
Adisi Health Center is the only clinic in Hinsdale and the western suburbs combining all four advanced regenerative technologies — Class IV Laser, Storz EMTT, Winback TECAR, and Storz Shockwave — under one roof, with one doctor (Dr. Steve Petzel) at every single visit. No rotating staff, no generic protocols, no mid-treatment referrals. Every session is clinically directed, documented, and adjusted based on your tissue response.
